Over the last 6 months, I have started painting and refinishing furniture. My husband jokingly stated one day that he could use a chair in the bedroom and that I should refinish one for him. I had never upholstered anything in my life - and the few attempts I have made at sewing have not been encouraging. Still, I bought this "ugly" chair as a surprise for my husband from a Houston thrift store for $12 dollars. Then, I bought some fabric for $9.00 from Calico Corners and some paint samples from Home Depot. It took a lot of work and I learned a number of lessons in what not to do when re-covering a chair, but I'm pretty pleased with the way my first attempt at this turned out.
