cookies ....... week of giving

Remember this is the week of recipes to inspire you to give to the ones you love this holiday
season so here is another recipe .........
One thing I love to bake is cookies during this season and here is the recipe to make red green and white swirled cookies

1 C. butter softened

1 1/2 C. powdered sugar

1 egg

2 1/2 C. flour

1 t. baking soda

1.2.mix together butter, powder sugar and egg until smooth. Stir in flour and baking soda and mix well.

Divide dough into thirds, tinting one portion green and one red. Place each portion into a plastic bag and refrigerate 15 minutes.

3. After the 15 minutes roll each portion out on separate sheets of lightly flowered wax paper into a rectangle shape. Place green rolled out dough on top of white dough by flipping the dough and use a knife and the wax paper to help separate the the green from the wax paper and repeat with the red on top of the green. Starting on the long side use the wax paper and a knife to help you roll the dough into a cylinder. Wrap in plastic and and refrigerate 1 hour.

4. After the hour heat oven to 375*. Cup dough into 1/4 inch slices and lay on a greased cookie sheet ( these cookies rise a lot so space them out). Bake 7-8 minutes or until edges are just barely golden brown. Let cool 2 minutes and move to cooling rack!
