Envy my Kitchen

Hello Envy my Cooking readers! My name is Marguerite and welcome to my kitchen. I'm a stay-at-home mom of 3 boys and I'm married to my builder. My husband actually designed and built the house as a spec home, but somehow we ended up moving in and making it ours. The only changes I made to the original kitchen before moving in were to request a dark stain over the original light brown paint on the cabinets and baseboards and to change out the light fixtures. This kitchen has a large island and is open to a small family room so is perfect for family dinners as well as the casual, buffet style entertaining I prefer.
We have just recently decided to sell this house and are in the process of building another (hopefully our last) home. We are using many of the design elements from this kitchen in the new house, with a few tweaks to make it even more "user-friendly."

The table was a clearance find that originally had a very light wood finish. We loved the stone stand so just refinished the top using a dark stain and wax finish. The chairs I fell in love with at first sight, but the local retail distributer would not sell them to me unless I also purchased a matching table. They even told me the manufacturer had discontinued the chair and more could not be ordered. Not one to be easily deterred, I scoured the internet to find the manufacturer, who assured me the chairs were still being made and put me in touch with another retailer who would order and deliver them to me. The roosters and platters used to decorate the upper shelves in the kitchen are almost all finds from TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and clearance sales.

Thank you Ladies for having me! Enjoy your weekend
