A little Knick Knack

Hello everyone! I'm so excited to be here at Jenny and Karla's blog! They have wonderful recipe's and other ideas and I'm thrilled to be here to share some of my favorite things with you today.

First, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Meg and I live over at A Little Knick Knack.

A Little Knick Knack

I'm a midwest stay at home mom to 3 young, young, young children and developed my love of crafting to keep my sanity! I love offering my readers fun giveaways, some personal insights, and sharing the talent I find in blogland with all of you!

Today, I'd like to share some of my favorite projects.

This is a fun and easy project that any of you can do in a few minutes. Simply find an old frame, paint the sides (I used metallic pearl white, mixed with an antiquing agent), spray the glass with chalkboard paint and ta-da! Instant decoration for any season. I would love to make a larger version of this for my kitchen, but I am a cheap skate and am waiting for the perfect cheap frame!

This fun little tray is also a re-puruposed frame, with handles added to the sides. You can add decorative paper or fabric (I found this lovely fabric in the remnants bin at Jo-Ann's...love that stuff) and make it a unique addition to any room.

I also love to make these customized family name boards. This one was made for a giveaway winner on my blog this summer. I find old cabinet doors (usually in the "as-is" section at Ikea) and give them a nice paint job, add the name and date "established" and then add some customized knobs to finish the look. I've also done name boards with hooks for keys or larger hooks for backpacks or coats. This is a very versatile way to dress up and organize a space.

And, I also love to just change up what I currently have. This step stool started off as just plain white, but I loved the two-toned look I was seeing everywhere in blogland, so I decided to give it a try. I hand-painted the numbers (which would have been a lot easier with a stencil or stamp or Cricut, but hey--I work with what I have!) and added a fun glaze to the base to give it a nice rustic feel.

And, finally, here is a sneak peek of a project currently under construction...

I hope you can check back soon for the finished product!

This is me in a nutshell. I love to find thrifty ways to re-purpose and improve old items. I love to find ways to creatively organize a space. And I'm starting to love to sew and cook as well! I'm not very good at those last two, but hey--I have fun trying! I hope you can stop by my blog on Fridays for my Everything but the Kitchen Sink link party!
